Review of Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976) by Michael W — 05 Oct 2008
So so film directed by Robert Altman starring Paul Newman as Buffalo Bill who runs a sort of rodeo show and has recently gotten Sitting Bull to be a part of the act. This is an odd film, there are so many actors in this and it has the typical Altman touches with all the constant talking and focusing on different characters at different times.
But I didn't really care for this, it seemed like Altman was experimenting with something and it didn't really work out. The whole movie is in a very golden tint (well, most of the time, for some reason there were moments the gold disppeared) and that didn't really bug me, but it didn't really fit with the film.
There were some good moments, I liked the stuff with Annie Oakley, but some chracters were pretty useless, especially Harvey Keitel's and Burt Lancaster's. Anyway, whatever, Paul Newman had a nice monologue at the end at least.
