Review of Budrus (2010) by Emmanuel B — 15 Dec 2012
This documentary tells one story about a small village, Budrus located in the Occupied West Bank. Israeli soldiers arrive to build a barrier fence that will run right through their land including uprooting their beloved olive trees.
Ayed Morrar organized a group of men to hold a non-violent demonstration to block the bulldozers brought in to tear down trees and clear the land. Their efforts were not too successful. His 15 year old daughter said, "Where are the women?" She understood how women could bring a new dynamic to their protest.
This film is a great example of how peace can be achieved with bi-partisan support. It's sad to see how politics becomes a barrier to peace, but hopeful to see how human beings can overcome those forces.
