Review of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) by Kyle C — 23 Feb 2011
Now, I haven't seen any Abbott and Costello films or have seen any of their acts, so I wasn't quite sure if I would enjoy their type of comedy or not, but now after seeing this film, I can honestly say that Abbott and Costello are probably the funniest comedy duo that I have ever seen.
And what is said to be their greatest film, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, certainly proves that statement. The idea is simple yet genius: Abbott and Costello become tangled in a web with the most famous monsters, Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula and The Wolf Man.
They must stop Dracula from giving a new brain to the Monster which results in tons of laughs, some of them even coming from the monsters. Having a hilarious comedy duo and the most famous monsters together on screen works perfectly and my only problem with this film is that I wish it could've been longer, as only 80 minutes of having such talent together at the same time can surely leave one begging for more.
