Review of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) by Scott R — 31 Oct 2011
A ridiculous, yet oddly effective classic horror (?) film. For a schticky film, it actually has its moments of good dialogue and plot points. And the special effects for the time are impressive. Still, it would seem this is moving towards the tail-end of the careers of great monster actors like Lon Chaney & Bela Lugosi - with Hollywood poking fun at what used to be horrific.
Yet at the same time, it works as an homage to these actors, and it is quite fun to watch the three big horrors (Dracula, Werewolf & Frankenstein's monster) in one film - mixed with some zany humor and dazzling starlets, of course.
