Review of Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star (2011) by Aaron H — 19 Apr 2011
DISCLAIMER: the ONLY reasons I saw this were.
1) it was free.
2) I felt like I owed my recruiter b/c I had canceled on him several times prior to this date.
First of all, on the whole, this lousy excuse for entertainment was pathetically and un-creatively disgusting. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this film. There were several scenes that were absolutely painful to watch. It is, to echo one of my favorite critics, a sad day in Hollywood when there are actors who are willing to lower themselves to such levels.
On the flip side, Edward Herrman gave an absolutely fabulous performance (as usual) and the lady cast as his wife was just darlin' :0).
Their chemistry was quite believeable; I think those two were well cast.
Also, this film gives a VERY unique take on the adult entertainment industry. It really got me thinking...if all porn films were made like Bucky's, maybe the porn industry would eventually fade away? Even if pornos were still made, the effect would be SO different, and eventually porn wouldn't have the super-bad rep it does now...although it would still be gross, it'd be a different kind of gross, because the overall effect would be positive, both for guys and girls...random, weird thoughts, I know! but this film really got me thinking.
If you want to know more about it, just ask!
