Review of Buck Privates (1941) by Cli O — 14 Sep 2008
This was Abbott and Costello's first star outing and was a huge success guaranteeing thier popularity for years to come. It was also the first of four films they made in 1941.
Herbie and Slicker join the army and go through basic training. In addition to their army shenanigans are several musical interludes by the 40's singing trio The Andrews Sisters and a romantic angle.
Standout routines include the 'dice game', 'can you lend me $50' and the drill sequence.
