This movie isn't about horses. It's about a man who overcame a brutal upbringing to become a strong, honest, caring and upstanding person. He has become a man who understands what it takes to live successfully and happily as well as what it takes to partner with an animal by show it kindness, firmness and understanding.
Although he is still scarred by the darkness of his father's demons he is able to set it aside to contribute to making the world a better place. You can tell what kind of man he has become by using his family as a mirror into his soul.
And what is there is good.
