Review of Buck (2011) by Sheron J — 25 Jun 2011
Wonderfully touching this doc/portrait about the fascinating, empathic buck brannaman a man who has seen alot in life and turned a tough childhood into a triumphant, meaningful life. the film follows him as he travels on the road around the country for nine months of the year teaching people how to better their relationships with their horses; and gets to the root of issues in their own lives in the process.
the film has a quiet, gentle touch as it expands the hearts and minds of the clinic participants, the beautiful vistas of the many spots where he sets up shop for a four-day stint also make a mark. buck imparts wisdom in a simple, honest delivery and demonstrates what it means to do the work to overcome our fears and failings and what it means to be open to instruction and the possibility of change.
accompanied by a lovely soundtrack that finishes nicely with a touching song performed by eddie vedder, this is a great experience.
