Review of Bubble Boy (2001) by Frances C — 20 Sep 2008
I've just read a few reviews and I must have a blunter sensitivity to offence than most viewers. They made it sound like "Springtime for Hitler". I'm (perhaps generously) assuming that the gags involving freakshow entertainers, the Stepford cult, the bikers, the Chinese gamblers et al, were intended to point up the falsity of Reagan-mom's vilely bigoted viewpoint.
It was a sort of bad-taste proto-Big Fish, and I quite enjoyed it.
