Review of Bubble Boy (2001) by Ed Q — 19 Jul 2009
It's a shame that enfant terrible Blair Hayes has only been given the opportunity to direct one film. "Bubble Boy" is an overlooked gem that asks if we, as a society, live within the confines of a metaphorical bubble, which prevents us from ever reaching our inherent potential.
Through the use of dry wit and scholarly humor, Hayes exposes our fundamental flaws, and instructs us to burst the bubble of societal and cultural oppression. I can't think of another film that is more deserving of a place in a political science or sociology curriculum.
