Review of Bubble Boy (2001) by Dana H — 22 May 2012
The film adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land is both a textbook example of proper book to film conversion, as well as an excellent movie in its own right. As a film Bubble Boy could not use the same narrative structure used in the novel instead choosing to focus on its main character's inner struggles as he faces a new world of which he knows nothing about.
This is not to suggest that the supporting cast are anything but exceptional (Danny Trejo gives his best performance since Spy Kids). All in all Bubble Boy is quite possibly the best film ever.
