Review of Bubba Ho-tep (2002) by Robb K — 20 Dec 2009
It's random, yet predictable; funny, yet tired; original, yet familiar. Bubba Ho-tep was really fun to watch and is something really different to mostly everything else I've seen. Some of the jokes I felt were too predictable and not funny, but most of them had me chuckling.
The characters are hilarious, and both Bruce Campball and Ossie Davis do fantastic jobs satirising Elvis and JFK. The plot is mediocre, but the main purpose of it is to give us jokes from the main characters.
Bubba Ho-tep is something you watch purely for fun, because it's clearly not a great film.
