Review of Brutal Massacre: A Comedy (2008) by Jason D — 25 Jul 2008
Absolutely hilarious Mockumentary about a fading horror film director trying to take another shot at making another epic horror film, but runs into some of the worst luck ever involving actors, film crew, deaths, botched scenes, etc.
There are some great turns from genre actors Ellen Sandweiss (Evil Dead), Ken Foree (From Beyond), and especially Gunnar Hansen (Leatherface, himself) who turns in quite possibly one of the funniest roles EVER.
Ken Foree played a great, sentimental character, but was slightly underused. David Naughton (An American Werewolf in London) and Brian O'Halloran (Clerks) worked great as the leads, delivering some fun scenes.
All in all, the film made me laugh at some all-too familiar problems that riddle the horror business, but makes light of them in fun ways. I'd recommend this film to anyone who knows their horror movies.
