Review of Brüno (2009) by Tibor B — 01 Jan 2012
Sacha Baron Cohen's third rate character after Ali G and Borat gets the big screen treatment, with all involved seeming to realise that the one-note outrageously gay Austrian fashion reporter's best bet is to be no holds barred offensive and contraversial.
The only real laughs are moments of "I can't believe they went THERE" incredulity, most of it at the expense of American conservatism when confronted with Cohen's camp European. It may have worked as a brief TV special, but as a comedy feature film it becomes tiresome very quickly.
