Review of Brüno (2009) by Jacky C — 27 Jul 2012
The only reason this wasn't as widely liked by audiences as "Borat" is because is was more graphic and a lot of people couldn't deal with it, plain and simple. I, however, can deal with it which is why I laughed my fuckin' ass off for 82 minutes straight.
This movie was jaw dropping, hysterical, and there were some unbelievable moments (I mean the guy fucked with red necks armed with hunting rifles, a room full of black people, and a fucking terrorist for crissake).
The reason I liked it was because he didn't try anything new and stuck with the basic premise. It was a documentary like "Borat." While others would feel they needed to try for something different Sacha Baron Cohen asked "What for?" and I thought it paid off.
Ultimately it was on par with "Borat," which was slightly overrated while this was very underrated.
