Review of Brüno (2009) by Matthew M — 03 Jun 2011
From the success of "Borat", Baron Cohen could have filmed a plastic bag floating in the wind, said something in a partially racist, but wholly funny, accent and received praise. What he made was something only slightly more sophisticated - "Bruno" is an attempt at the humour seen before, but amplified; it's outrageous, it's raunchy, it's crude and it's completely politically incorrect, but it does it's job.
It lives up to the hype and becomes another jewel in Cohen's already full crown. Anyone who enjoyed "Borat" will like this. Anyone who didn't, stay away.
