Review of Bruce Almighty (2003) by Sanal R — 10 Sep 2013
An imaginative, incredibly quotable and unforgettable comedy film, even for this Atheist, with all of its religious under and overtones. Tom Shadyac's Bruce Almighty is probably getting a higher than average score from me because it holds such nostalgia to me in watching this film for the side-splitting performance and quotes brought to me by one of my personal favorite comedic and general actors of all time, Jim Carrey, playing mainly himself as usual in this endearing religious romp, but also a character who is confused by his perception of "God.
" This movie touches me as well as I felt the same way until I realized Morgan Freeman wasn't really God and, if he wasn't nobody was, I have more sensible reasons now but you get my point.
Bruce Almighty is a great family movie for mainly the religious sort and can still be enjoyed by the rest of us for Carrey's energetic performance. I give this film a 4 out of 5 simply on principle, being that it is mainly a film advertising something I do not believe in or support, but other than that it is a fine time to watch at home for the laughs or morals.
For the Atheist Church of Morgan Freeman, this is The Truth You Can't Handle, signing off.
