Review of Bruce Almighty (2003) by Tongo P — 31 Mar 2013
It's an alright crowd pleaser Jim Carrey comedy and that's not supposed to be a bad thing. It's lighthearted and has a message to convey although smeared by everything else. I just watched it and thought of all the potential that it has for a serious film that has the same morals and story.
A director like Spielberg, maybe, could have taken this humble comedy and turned it into a dark thriller about an ordinary person with the power of God. I never thought that Bruce actually learnt anything but the script said he did, so he did.
It's not a bad film at all, it's a great Saturday night fun film, it just has more potential.
