Review of Brown Sugar (2002) by Fernando C — 04 Mar 2011
This 2002 romantic film starring Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan tells us a simple yet interesting story of love, a love between two childhood friends who would not admit that their relationship is becoming something more than just a friendship. What is even more interesting to me is that this song is actually based on hip hop mastermind Commonâ(TM)s âI Used to Love H.E.R.â?, one of my favorite rap songs ever, which tells the story of how the love for hip hop eventually connects the relationship between a man and a woman. Filled with a few funny moments, great acting and even better music this film entertains anybody who is looking for a movie to chill back and relax. This film is perhaps not an Oscar winner but it definitely shows what hip hop at the time was becoming, culture and it gives the audience a story with which many can relate, the love for music and childhood love. Overall the film is good and it is something that anybody can watch.
