Review of Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) by Walt H — 30 Jul 2009
This remains one of my favourite werewolf films of all time, right up there with (the very different) Dog Soldiers.
A vicious story inspired (very loosely) by one of the earliest references we have to werewolves: the historical Best of Gevauden. Beautifully shot; well-acted; action that easily matches The Matrix. Really a treat, I rate it as one of the better action films of all time.
Watched it and got so p*ssed off with the dubbing that 10 minutes in I stuck it on the original sound + subtitles. Result: instant atmosphere. I recommend you do the same: I thought it was just me (I'm near-fluent in French), but the wife felt the same, and she barely speaks a word of the language.
