Review of Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) by Tom R — 09 Jan 2009
It's French, but it doesn't feel like a foreign film. I think the director took a lot of inspiration from American action and martial arts movies. The editing and camera movement seems very crafted and unstationary.
I enjoyed the epic feel of the movie. It mixed a lot of genres (I remember action/drama/romance/fantasy/horror/kung fu/period piece) and through a giant monster in for fun. It is strange, original, and wondrous at the same time.
