Review of Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) by Bret K — 25 Jan 2009
Watched this is in dub. Big mistake! Or was it... Spent the first half hour cracking up at their voices. Especially the lead male and female. The leadingguy looked a little Enfield with Clive Owen's voice. This was perhaps a good thing though because the first forty minutes do drag a bit.
As the story progressed there were glimpses of the dark mystic that the cover promised. For me the films success depended on it being truly dark and it wasn't. Even with a repeat viewing with subtitles, I imagine I will still feel the same way.
A remake is definitely required. A director, such as Guillermo Del Toro, could really do it justice.
Overall: quite disappointing. However some of the action sequences were immense and I liked the story, so it was a worthwhile watch.
