Review of Brotherhood (2016) by Lewis E — 29 Dec 2016
Never imagined I would see something that stunk as bad as 'Suicide Squad' before 2016's end. Despite endless celebrity deaths, terrible movies and Honey G, this year was determined to deliver one more sh*t stain to my screen.
Don't know how many more film titles Noel Clarke needs to get across the message he is ageing but it is obvious from 'Brotherhood' this 'blud' is too old to be chatting slang and beating up teenagers.
He needs to move on from making these low budget ghetto productions, surely it's a sign that genre is dead when Adam Deacon rejects an invitation. 'Kidulthood' appealed to my generation due to its accurate depiction of London youth but the quality has not since evolved and may have actually gone backwards considering 'Brotherhood' is plagued with schoolboy acting, schoolboy writing and schoolboy humour.
It is so predictable and so preachy while Noel Clarke also severely overestimates the extent to which we care about his character. Not sure how many alternative acting and directing opportunities there are for him but I do hope Noel Clarke truly grows up and stops all this hoodlum nonsense.
