Review of Brother Bear (2003) by William B — 19 Nov 2011
I hold a new respect for my 3 1/2 yr old son for lasting through this unengaging, bland film. It definitely feels like a movie made to fill the Disney quota. It also features some embarrassingly campy musical numbers by Phil Collins.
It appears to me that Collins was putting effort into making the songs sound like he put no effort into them. I'm also confused about the time period. Everything looks like 19th century...Alaska, perhaps (with Canadian moose?), but they really wanted to include Wooly Mamoth for some inexplicable reason.
Oh well, the film left me relatively unharmed, and I'm sure my son will continue to develop mentally, despite this experience.
