Review of Brother Bear (2003) by Lilianetty L — 20 Mar 2011
As the movie opens, young Kenai (voiced by Joaquin Phoenix ) is to go through the ceremony with his tribe in which we will receive his totem, and become a man. He receives the totem of love, which is a source of humiliation to him, because his brothers received totems of guidance and wisdom - more manly things.
When Kenai's brother is killed by a bear, Kenai takes it upon himself to exact revenge and kill the bear himself. But when the great spirits transform him into a bear, he gets a brand new perspective on life through another creature's eyes. Along the way to becoming a man once again, Kenai meets up a young bear cub name Koda and two goofy moose named Rutt and Tuke played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas who reprise their roles of SCTV beer-guzzling Bob and Doug McKenzie.
A powerful story with beautiful messages, stunning animation, and music that helped to further the story and enhanced the visuals! I absolutely loved the ending.
