Review of Bros (2022) by Compi24 — 04 Oct 2022
Though it definitely falls into some of the same cliches and tropes that every other romantic comedy has utilized before it, "Bros" finds co-writer and star Billy Eichner's trademark crassness and vulgarity on full display and to generally successful comedic effect.
This is a frank, illuminating and — most of all — funny glimpse into some of the challenges and intricacies laid at the feet of certain archetypes within the LGBT community, a realm of humankind that I know I'm nowhere near as well-versed on as I probably should be.
At the end of the day, this is what movies are all about — learning about different experiences and kinds of conflict that the human condition can endure. In that, I found "Bros" to be not only entertaining, but interesting in its handling of certain matters and ways of life that I'm unfamiliar with.
Again, though, the humor is the real selling point for me, with everything hinging quite steadily on Eichner's lead performance. A solid time at the theater overall.
