Not a dreadful "good cops do bad things" movie by any means, just utterly derivative and uninspired. All of the sub-plots (retiring cop has one last chance at redemption, good family man cop does bad things for extra cash, undercover cop torn by loyalties) have been done better before.
The strong cast (well Gere aside who doesn't work here) make it watchable and it's directed with solid assurance by Fuqua but it really has nothing new to offer the genre whatsoever.
