Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Gabriel M — 16 Feb 2016
An Irish girl moves to America and needs to learn from the difficulties and deal with homesickness.
This small period drama is a real pearl.
Directed with poise by Crawley and anchored by the exceptional performance by Saorsie Ronan as Eillis - who is able to convey emotions only with her beautiful blue eyes - the film is an excellent character study, full of nuances and absolutely relatable.
In addition, the romance with Tony (Cohen) - who is also exceptional with his mannerisms - creates a dynamic that makes us pray for a happy ending.
