Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Wayne M — 26 Feb 2016
Let's cut right to the chase, 2015's Best Picture nominee ''Brooklyn'' brings fairly anything original and surprising to the table. With few bewildering moments in this movie, story wise it isnt as strong as other Best Picture nominees this year. (discounting Mad Max which is a disgraceful nominee in itself).
But what this movie does have going for it is it's heartfelt and impeccable performance by Ronan (one of this years very best to not say the least), and a handful of rich and vibrant characters. Also the whole style and feel of the film is beautiful.
With Brooklyn you get sucked right into the glossy feel of 50's New York City with exquisite costume and production design, and accurate unblemished art direction.
Despite not bringing anything new to the table, ''Brooklyn'' is a great film and well worth your time, because everything else is top notch.
