Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Tom H — 02 Mar 2016
Brilliantly performed drama that on very few occasions borders on being soppy. It's the actors' skills and the director's wise guidance that keeps it from veering off into sentimentality. Even people without a recent immigrant background, will be empathetic to this story and the subsequent emotional turmoil.
Visually rich, the film's story is simple but not new and, therefore, a bit predictable. Bottom line: Nicely done.
