Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Raji K — 28 May 2016
Ellis Lacey a kind, sheltered, and somewhat naive woman who is about to open her world with a move to Brooklyn. Set in the 1950s, she balances her emotions between homesickness, exposure to a new country, and a budding romance with a young Italian man.
The film has a slow pace that unfolds at a charming pace. Saoirse Ronan has an understated likability to her that keeps the film moving. Brooklyn is a decent romance, coming of age that well captures a romance of such a time period.
