Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Lisa V — 03 Dec 2016
So....a Saturday night at The Zonita and a couple of cans of Tanglefoot and, as it turns out, a very fine fillum. (And I think it appropriate to use the word fillum as this film is very much Irish based despite being set in early 1950's Brooklyn).
Not usually my sort of thing - Captain America and Tony Stark do not feature, but it is beautifully acted and had me totally involved. I am told that the book on which this film is based is pretty much pants, so well done to Nick Hornby for creating something of a masterpiece.
A rare thing - a film that is better than the source material. And Saoirse Roman is simply wonderful.
