Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Simon T — 21 Dec 2016
Wonderfully acted and beautifully designed, this Nick Hornby scripted version of Colm Tóibin's 50s-set rite-of-passage novel only falters when budget limitations make it obvious Brooklyn and Manhattan are mostly confined to interiors.
Saoirse Ronan is perfect as the callow Irish girl who discovers herself through love and tragedy. John Crowley directs with humility and great sensitivity.
