Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Bradley J — 25 Feb 2016
Saoirse Ronan is positively luminous in Brooklyn. Her face practically glows in each frame and the movie wouldn't work without her. Brooklyn as a film is a light, pleasant and thoroughly comforting bit of romantic and mature storytelling.
It doesn't go any daring places but settles for a rather slight tale that doesn't fully make an arc out of its central character. Sneaking its way into the Best Picture race, Brooklyn is charming and features lovely performances.
Rating: 83.
