Review of Brooklyn (2015) by Ken S — 27 Mar 2016
"Brooklyn" is a fine period drama about a young Irish girl who moves to America, begins to make a life for herself, and then returns to Ireland after her sister dies, only to have her former home try and keep her from returning to her new life in the States.
It's a solid picture, the kind of slow burn drama that is elevated by Saoirse Ronan's very reserved and wonderful performance. It's a subtle drama about the choices we have to make in life, about what path you decide to take for your own future.
Well made, but definitely a slower movie film...not for the impatient.
