A fascinating, vivid and highly stylized unflinching biopic of the life of Charles Bronson, born Michael Petersen who has the distinction of being Britain's most notorious and dangerous criminal, his primary ambition is to be famous so he seized any moment to demonstrate his extreme and terrorizing savagery, he spent 34 years in prison; 30 of them in solitary confinement.

Bronson is played by Tom Hardy in a unforgettable tour-de-force performance, he is totally mesmerizing in the role, with his bald head, distinctly twisted handle bar mustache, thick broad shoulders and powerful arms.

Bronson is a menacing force that the prison guards are truly scare of, for he is a is a calculating psychopath with the violent rage of a charging bull. The film also has a series brilliantly staged fights between Bronson and the prison guards as well as outside opponents.

Solid supporting performances by Hugh Ross, Juliet Oldfield, Jonny Phillips, James Lance, Amanda Burton, Kelly Adams and William Darke. Amazing cinematography by Larry Smith and impeccable direction by Nicolas Winding Refn.

This film is not for the squeamish, it is brutal and disturbing but also captivating and exciting. A unique film. Highly Recommended.
