Review of Bronson (2009) by Ian B — 04 Nov 2015
Bronson feels more like a foppish actor / director playhouse than a compelling film. Tom Hardy gets to do a couple of his favorite things: be totally BuffNaked, affect a funny voice, and stand in a literal spotlight against a black backdrop for probably 30 minutes of the entire running time.
Granted, the acting is (characteristically) very strong, and Nicolas Winding Refn can make silence speak volumes - but if you were to watch it at home, it's just boring and weird. Check out Starred Up instead.
