Dry wit carries this movie astonishingly well through the bleak, depressing plot that we are presented with. Bill Murray provides an excellent performance as a tarnished, middle aged 'Don Juan'.

Motivated by loneliness, regret, and a very questionable, anonymous letter stating the existence of a child, he seeks out four of his past lovers to discover which might be the mother of his long lost son.

As Don travels to find each of these women, he becomes increasingly apparent of his past mistakes, isolation, and of the very real possibility of an existing child; he even becomes paranoid of the latter.

The ending is a perfect mix of ambiguity and realization.
