Review of Broken Flowers (2005) by Aaron F — 16 Jun 2009
Honestly, I think this movie is highly overrated. I'm a big Bill Murray fan and I understand that Jim Jarmusch is certainly the kind of director who doesn't do conventional narrative films. But as a whole, I think this movie is missing a serious backbone.
I'm not expecting it to be a comedy but I think the film's sense of humor is lifeless and monotone. I did however, appreciate the subtle nuances and clues that Jarmusch leaves for you to ponder, as the camera is giving us the point of view of what unfolds in the scene.
But the movie feels like it's crawling along like a slug, with an unsatisfying ending.
