Review of Broken Flowers (2005) by Gareth J — 30 Nov 2009
Broken Flowers is a softly paced, well written and superbly acted comedy starring Bill Murray. The plot is simple but intriguing enough to last out the films duration, however the acting from all of the supporting characters, as well as Murray himself, is so well performed that the length of the movie is forgotten within the first 10 minutes.
The music is an eclectic taste of jazzy soul mixed in with contemporary samba and Latin guitar; that works well with the relaxed mood of the picture. The character that Murray plays is more of a rip-off of his character in "Lost in Translation", however at least in this film he has something to do.
Broken Flowers is one of the better comedies of the decade and is one of the best films of it's year, I highly recommended it if you're a Bill Murray fan or just want to see a very well written film.
