Review of Broken Flowers (2005) by Mike B — 01 Sep 2012
I'm a stalker in a Taurus.
Don Johnston is an eccentric playboy that stays to himself and is pretty much a recluse. After his latest girlfriend dumps him, he receives an anonymous letter that says he has a son that may be looking for him. Don is coaxed by his only friend to seek out the child and they form a plan to visit his ex-girlfriends in hopes of finding his son.
"She's left.".
"Me too. I think.".
Jim Jarmusch, director of Coffee and Cigarettes, Dead Man, and Ghost Dog, delivers Broken Flowers. The storyline for this picture is very interesting and well paced. The end is rather abrupt but the pace changes throughout the film is perfect. The acting is outstanding and the cast includes Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Heather Simms, and Julie Delpy.
"How's the sweetest grape on the vine?".
I have been a little behind on my Bill Murray pictures recently and found this on cable and decided to give it a shot. I thoroughly enjoyed this picture and felt Murray was perfect for this film and his demeanor matched the pace of the movie perfectly. Overall, I recommend seeing this film but not adding it to your DVD collection as you may only need to watch it once.
" No! Not Dolomite!".
Grade: B+/A- (8.5).
