Review of Broken Flowers (2005) by Lucas Y — 01 Apr 2013
Great when things are happening, not so great when they're not. I'm one of Bill Murray's biggest fans ever, but once in a while he'll do a film where it seems he swallowed a bottle of vicadin before filming.
I partially blame this on Jarmusch. Way too many silent, facial expression shots & scenes. I actually really liked the ending. Its supposed to end like that. It's to show the emptiness that will haunt Murray till his death.
He will never know if that letter was true or not and neither will we. Use of music was different and enjoyable. All the performances were good. I liked the differences between all the female characters.
The Lolita scene was quite disturbing.
