Review of Broken English: Three Songs by Marianne Faithfull (1979) by Yasemin G — 04 Jul 2008
A good indie by the daughter of the pioneer of independent cinema in US. Parker Posey, as Nora, delivers a character that many 30-something women nowadays can relate to. Two scenes in the film take on the cliche of "what happens when the french speak english.
" It is unclear whether Zoe Cassavetes could not avoid falling into the cliche or she used it intentionally, but they are still the most hilarous moments in the film. All in all, a nice romance with unexaggerated acting by Posey and Poupaud.
