Review of Broken Embraces (2009) by Megan O — 21 Dec 2009
Broken Embraces is another triumph for the genius Almodovar! The beautiful colors, sensational performances, and characteristically brilliant screenplay just left me wanting more. Almodovar has such sheer confidence in each and every shot, each and every line.
It's clear that he is a director who knows exactly what he's doing and has every bit of self-assurance that it will be as perfect on the screen as it is in his head. Bad Education is one of my all-time favorite films, but after being slightly disappointed by Volver, I had been putting this one off.
Silly mistake! It's like a masterful continuation to Bad Education, and is definitely a film that I could see myself revisiting many times in the future.
