Having begun with Volver and then going backwards in Almodovar's filmography, I had the feeling years softened him.
Seeing this movie just confirmed that feeling. True enough, these last 2 movies seemed to me more timid, less cruel, less shocking too, especially compared with films like La Mala Education or Matador.
Yet Los Abrazos Rotos clearly has the Almodovar touch. It's a sweet and sad story that really touched me.
What I specially loved about it was the movie in the movie, which was none other than Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios. It was a brilliant detail, visible only to those who had seen and remembered that Almodovar masterpiece...
