I'm coming late to the Almodovar game, but Broken Embraces is something I think I can recommend without much hesitation. Penelope Cruz is not really doing anything she hasn't done before, but she's still quite enjoyable.
This story of a blind writer told in jumps between the the past and the present offers both humor and drama in a seamless blend.
