Review of Broken Embraces (2009) by Gary S — 19 Dec 2009
Almodovar's back with Broken Embraces...after refreshingly brilliant Volver... not to say Broken Embraces is less refreshing...it is still mind blowing...but it's the familiar Almodovar that we've seen before in Live Flesh and All About My Mother....but that's is good enough...cause Broken Embraces shows Almodovar in top form...
Soap opera's silliness... melodramatic scenes... campy yet witty dialogues...sudden fatalist happenings...explosive carnal desire... Almodovar's stamp is all over this film... though in the end everything just falls naturally... emotionally you're kind of suspended...until his next film take you for a ride again...
