Review of Broken Embraces (2009) by Sherwin L — 28 Dec 2009
Almodovar has been one of the most consistent filmmakers for many decades now, and his latest did not disappoint me. Broken Embraces is playful and deliberately caters to cinephiles. There are some terrific moments, both cinematic and acting-wise.
It may not have been as mindblowing as some of his previous works, as he set the bar very high for himself. But it's a solid flick, and one of the best movies I've watched recently.
