I have seen better Wahlberg films; this one seemed slow paced and lacking energy, action. Wahlberg plays an ex-cop named Billy Taggart who seeks revenge after being double-crossed by the city's mayor (Russell Crowe as Mayor Hostetler).
What starts out as detective work regarding infidelity becomes a tangled web of intrigue, deceit and a piece of a Machiavellian plan. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays the mayor's wife Cathleen. Mayor Hostetler is trying to undermine the work a contender running for the Mayoral race and he will stop at nothing.
There are a few surprises along the way and definitely shows what a dirty business is politics, but does so in a very slow way. This is one political thriller that leaves much to be desired but for a $1.
50 rental not bad.
