Review of Brokedown Palace (1999) by Johnhartigan — 23 Mar 2021
Brokedown Palace is a solid film about 2 Americans who visit Thailand after they graduate high school. The movie has fabulous scenery, many twists and wonderful acting from Kate & Claire as the main characters framed for smuggling heroin that they're innocent of.
The movie has a similar look to The Beach, another thriller drama set in Thailand. The movie also features strong supporting roles from Lou Diamond Phillps, and Bill Pullman as the Lawyer helping them in Thailand.
There is also a cameo by Paul Walker as a friend of the girl's from Ohio. Overall this is an absorbing, diverse and enjoyable drama, a film you should see if you haven't or have never heard of it, B+.
